AOL video store to use Amazon technology

AOL Video is going to drop its own for-pay download offerings in favor of Amazon. AOL had launched their video store in October last year.

Amazon added in a statement that they would be sharing revenues with AOL through this deal.

For Amazon, this could prove to be a big shot in the arm. AOL’s audience could help boost its download sales.

Fred McIntyre, senior vice president of AOL Video said in a statement: “It’s really about focus. AOL, as a company, is in the process of shifting our focus for our primary business and everything we do towards an advertising business.”

AOL Video is now focusing on building an extensive catalog of free streaming content.
