‘ONO’ one of Spanish leading cable network operator will test broadband service with speeds up to 100 Mbps in the metropolitan area of Valladolid. This service will be a pilot project and the operator plans to test this technology for six months before the service’s commercial launch in Madrid.
The operator plans to invest EUR 75 million in the massive deployment of this technology which will enable it to complete the new network in 2009. Ono becomes the first operator in Spain to introduce a nation-wide broadband internet service with speeds up to 100 Mbps.
The most common internet speeds that people in Spain use range between 2 and 9.9 Mbps.
ONO has plans to bring this service in Valencia and Barcelona in last quarter of this year. As of now they haven’t provided any details regarding the price for the service.
